Yoga Mudra/Hand Gestures methods of doing and benefits Part 1


                                                                             Mudra
Mudra ( Hand gestures) is an important science. For Spiritual development of human being science of Mudra  is one of the most essential part. According to Yoga, one can attain immense power by peaceful state of the mind. Without a stable mind, it is impossible to grow or go ahead in Yoga or Spiritual journey. Science of Mudra ( Hand gestures) is useful in making a disturbed mind stable and feel internal peace.
We can find various statues of Gautam Buddha and Mahaveer Swami  and many more saints in various Mudras. Among these mudras Gyan mudra which is also called Gesture of Knowledge is the most famous one. Our body is the best creature of the nature. The nature and our body is made of five elements, i.e. Fire, Air, Ether, Earth and Water. Due to an imbalance between these five elements diseases arise in our body.
According to Yoga Our five fingers represent the five elements.1.      Thumb- Fire Element
2.      Index Finger- Air Element
3.      Middle Finger- Ether Element
4.      Ring Finger- Earth Element
5.      Little Finger- Water Element

We can Increase, Decrease or Make a Balance of these elements by using Mudra ( Hand gestures). There are many mudras in Yoga but in this blog I will talk about very few Mudras which are very famous and needs to be practiced by all Yoga practitioners.

                                    GYAN MUDRA/ GESTURE OF KNOWLEDGE
This is the most common and familiar Mudra in mainstream society as Meditators are often seen pairing this mudra with their practice.
The intention of Gyan Mudra is to improve our concentration and sharp our memory. This is a great Mudra to use when seeking to gain knowledge.

Method:-
This Mudra is performed by touching the tip of Index Finger to the tip of the Thumb, while holding your other Fingers straight as shown in the picture below.

·         Improves concentration so very helpful for students
·         Very useful to patients suffering from insomnia (sleep disorder in which its Difficult falling asleep)
·         Stabilizes the disturbed Mind
·         Stimulates the Agya chakra which results in spiritual development.
